YemenOnline. February 1, 2009 - The Ministry of Interior is conducting a comprehensive search for all the places that the new Al-Qaeda organization is likely to resort to. The new organization announced last week the nomination of Nasser Al-wuhaichi as «Emir» of the organization in the Arabian Peninsula. It is worth mentioning that Al-wuhaishi has been wanted by the Yemeni security authorities since 2006. In a statement to Al-Hayat newspaper, the Deputy of the Ministry of Interior for security sector, Major General Mohammed Al-Qawsi said that the security agencies are watching the possible locations of the organization, pointing to the cooperation received from citizens in this regard. He added: «Al-Qaeda threats are not new, but are in fact permanent, and the authorities are following it up». Regarding the security cooperation between Riyadh and Sana'a in combating terrorism, he said «Security cooperation as well as the exchange of important security information between both parties is large and tangible at all levels, ».
