EU Praises Yemeni Government To Host Refugees
The visiting European Union delegation on Sunday praised efforts of the Yemeni government in hosting and receiving refugees despite continued growth of the refugees flow to Yemen.
Yemen news agency (Saba) reported that during their meeting with Deputy Interior Minister Saleh al-Zarori, the delegation expressed EU's readiness to increase its assistance to Yemen to provide basic requirement of the refugees.
The EU delegation and representative of International Labour Organization affirmed readiness to provide assistance for the Yemeni coastguard through improving the anti-piracy center in Aden to be a regional center.
Deputy Interior Minister indicated the flow of refugees from the Horn of Africa to Yemen which constitutes an economic burden on the Yemeni government, reviewing the number of refugees has become more than a million refugees.
Al-Zarori reviewed the effort of the Yemeni agencies in combating terrorism and tackling crimes and sea piracy, noting the Yemeni coast guards have foiled many sea piracy attempts.
He affirmed the importance of supporting the Yemeni efforts in the fighting against smuggling and sea piracy which are growing significantly.
