Official Agreement Ends Government University Protests
The Syndicate of Teaching Staff at Sana'a University reached an official agreement with the Ministry of Civil Service. The agreement provides for granting members of government university teaching staff the deserved increase of the second stage of wages strategy. It also provides for agreeing on work nature allowance according to the Law of Wages & Salaries No 43 of 2005. Dr. Abdullah Al Azazi, media official of the Syndicate, in a press statement, which Yemenonline obtained a copy of it, said that this agreement has finished a stage of escalations and protests witnessed in government universities which continued for more than a year. He added that they will complete discussing the system jobs and wages of teaching staff members in Yemeni universities and regulate their rights and duties. He also indicated that there is a clear attention and cooperation by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Civil Service.
