Prime Minster Gives Orders to Investigate the Looting of Incident Antiques
The Cabinet referred Al-Saddah District’s Manager, the Security Manager, and the General Manager of Antiques and Museums in Ibb Governorate to investigation over looting the archeological areas in Al-Osaibiah and Al-shahedah, Al-Qutn, Shamar Yare’esh in Al-Saddah District. The Cabinet, according to official news agencies, to fire any person involved in this ruining work or falling short in performing their duties. An investigation was also started by the general prosecutor about the theft of antiques that took place in Al Awod Museum. This was endorsed in the Cabinet’s meeting today, Tuesday which was headed by Prime Minister, Dr. Mojawar. The Cabinet also endorsed the immure the whole site as soon as possible by Social Fund for Development and to work, at the same time, on increasing security so that it remains their permanently in order to prevent any such running actions in the future. The Cabinet also formed a committee to review and evaluate the institutional structure of antiques sector in general, which is headed by the deputy prime minister for economic affairs and minister if planning and international cooperation. Some ministers and concerned authorities took part in the committee. In this respect, the focus will be to restructure antique sector including the review of the current law of antiques in a direction to confirm monitoring role and punish looters and smugglers of ancient antiques of historical value. International expertise will be invited too in the process of restructuring. The focus, at the same time, will be on how to manage archeological sites and museums. The committee shall report the results to the Cabinet as soon as possible.
