SANA'A, May 13-YemenOnline – Dr.Mustafa Bharan the Minister of Electricity and Energy has singed with the International Financing Corporation (IFC) an agreement of giving Yemen consultations regarding the establishment of gas-generated electricity stations.
The IFC will also help Ministry of Electricity encourage private sector to contribute to setting up an independent facility for generating electricity by gas as well as presenting technical assistances and consultations over ways of offering bids to establish more gas electricity stations.
Bahran appreciated the cooperation of IFC with Yemen to implement the project. "Yemen seeks through this agreement to benefit from IFC's consultative services in this regard", said Bahran, pointing that the project will be the first to be constructed, owned and operated by private sector.
Jasper said the International Financing Corporation is interested in this project due to increasing demand of power in Yemen. he said the IFC is ready to get more agreements and partnerships with the Yemeni government.
