Law in the works to make school attendance mandatory Sana'a, May 19, 2008 (YemenOnline) – Yemen is mulling over to issue a law that will make it compulsory for children to attend school and impose sanctions against parents who prevent their children from going to school.
The state-run 26sep.net quoted informed sources at the Education Ministry saying the government will establish more schools for children.
In this regard, the Education Ministry in collaboration with the local councils, has begun a comprehensive survey for crowded schools in an attempt to establish solutions for education problems in the country.
The move comes within Yemen's efforts to achieve the millennium goals as well as limiting negative effects of illiteracy and overcoming illiteracy development overburdens. Source: Sabanews
