Dr. Iryani: Culture of violence and extremism “alien” to Yemeni people
Sana’a, May 24, 2008 (YemenOnline) - The Sana’a-based Cultural Bridges Forum (CBF) will hold a national symposium on the "culture of tolerance in Yemen" on Sunday, May 25, 2008.
In a statement, Dr. Abdulkareem al-Iryani, CBF’s head and Political Advisor of President Saleh, said “The Yemeni society, by nature, rejects all forms of extremism and fanaticism and that violence and rejection of the other is an alien culture to the Yemeni society.”
“The symposium’s chief objective is to get rid of violence in all its forms and promote culture of peaceful dialogue and tolerance; being a main principle in our religion of Islam and a key-component in the culture of Yemen,” Dr. Iryani explained.
In attendance will be Yemeni intellectuals and media people in addition to academics and experts specialized in Yemeni affairs representing different Arab countries.
