Yemeni court sentences protesters to jail terms Sana’a, May 28, 2008 (YemenOnline) – A lower court sentenced a group of people in connection with protests in the south to jail terms ranging from one to three years in the Lahej province in Yemen.
A first court sentenced eight people who were detained in Lahej province for participating in anti-government protests in southern towns in last April to 1-3 years in jail.
The court charged the protesters with chanting anti-government slogans and attacking policemen.
The court also acquitted one detainee from the same charges.
