Yemen apprehends 11 Al-Qaeda suspects Sana’a, May 30, 2008 (YemenOnline) - Security forces have arrested an 11-member Al-Qaeda cell in the capital Sana’a over the past days, according to a report posted on the defense ministry's news website.
During their interrogation, the suspects disclosed important information linked to the terrorist attacks carried out by Al-Qaeda.
Al-Qaeda's affiliated cell in the country “Yemen Soldier Brigades” claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in recent months targeting the U.S. embassy, a complex housing U.S. nationals, a Canadian oil company, and the presidential compound.
Deputy Premier for defense and security affairs, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi would hold a press conference to provide more information on the arrests as well as on the army operations against the rebels in Sa’ada province, but gave no further details.
