YemenOnline >> Politics Yemen accuses Iran of training al-Houthi rebels Sana’a, June 13, 2008 (YemenOnline) - Rashad al-Alimi, deputy premier for defense and security affairs accused the al-Houthi affiliated “Believing Youth” of receiving military training in Iran and implementing this in Yemen.
“The Believing Youth received sabotage training courses in Iran and they came to implement this in Yemen,” al-Alimi said.
Al-Alimi called on all political parties to unite to confront what he called the “oppressive” and “destructive” ideology of the al-Houthis in the ‘Sa’ada province.
He said that war in Sa’ada is an intellectual and ideological more that a military and security one.
Observers said that al-Houthis might have received support from some Iranian clerics or religious groups and not from Iranian government itself.
