Yemeni Parliament and UNHCR to Enact Refugee Law YemenOnline- July 20, 2008- The Yemeni parliament will convene to pass a law regarding refugees in Yemen. They are working in tandem with the UN High Commission on Refugees to help Yemen deal with the influx of people from Somalia, Iraq, and Palestine. Yemen has had a large refugee population for a long time, most of whom are smuggled to the horn of Africa. The government has tried to be accommodating for the refugees but the sheer innumerability of the refugee population has left many people unaccounted for and untaken care of. The law will be based on the handling of refugees in neighboring countries, who will be helping in the draft the law to benefit all parties.
