YemenOnline-August 8,2008- A Yemeni security official says authorities have arrested a Sudanese refugee teacher from Darfur wanted by Khartoum for alleged involvement in a recent rebel attack on the Sudanese capital. The official says Yemen hasn't yet decided whether to extradite Mohammed Bin Abdul-Hameed Haroun, who has lived as a refugee in Yemen since 1993. He was arrested on Monday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't allowed to talk to media. Sudan has implicated Haroun in the May 10 attack by Darfur rebels on Khartoum's outskirts that killed more than 200 people. A fellow teacher-refugee said a group of Sudanese refugees in Yemen have written to the UNHCR to prevent Haroun's handover. The refugee also spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing for his safety.
