France renews its support for efforts to reach a political settlement to conflict in Yemen
France renewed its support for efforts to reach a political settlement to the conflict in Yemen that has been going on for more than eight years.
In a statement, the official spokesman for the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs expressed Paris' welcome to the success of the process of withdrawing oil from the dilapidated Safer floating tank off the port of Hodeidah in western Yemen on the Red Sea, and the imminent danger of a leak has passed.
He said, "France, which supported this operation and contributed to its financing with 3.3 million euros, commends the efforts of the United Nations and the mobilization of many countries to implement this complex rescue plan that ended on August 11, and avoided an environmental, humanitarian and economic crisis in the Red Sea."
The spokesman added, "France renews its support for the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen in order to reach a political settlement to the conflict, the only way to improve the lives of Yemenis in a sustainable manner and contribute to regional security."
