Sana'a– Israel has publicly disclosed a list of senior Houthi officials targeted in its latest wave of airstrikes on Yemen, marking a rare move in its military campaign against Iran-backed groups in the region. The list, released by the Israeli Defense Ministry on Saturday, includes top figures in the Houthi leadership accused of orchestrating attacks on Israeli territory and international shipping lanes.

Among those named were Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi, Defense Minister Mohamed al-Atifi, and Chief of Staff Muhammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari—all of whom were reportedly killed in the August 28 airstrike on a government compound in Sana’a. The operation, codenamed “Lucky Drop,” was described by Israeli officials as a “decapitation strike” aimed at dismantling the Houthi command structure.

The list also includes intelligence and missile program leaders believed to be behind recent drone and ballistic missile attacks on southern Israel. Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported that the entire Houthi cabinet was likely present at the time of the strike, which coincided with a televised speech by Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

Defense Minister Israel Katz defended the operation, stating, “This is just the beginning. Yemen’s fate will mirror Iran’s if threats against Israel persist.” The statement signals a broader escalation in Israel’s regional posture, with Yemen now firmly in the crosshairs of its counterterrorism strategy.
