Yemen : Houthis Claim 4 Military Operations Targeting main Israeli Sites
Sana'a – Yemen’s Houthi militia has claimed responsibility for a series of military operations targeting strategic sites inside Israel, including the Israeli General Staff headquarters in Tel Aviv, Ben Gurion International Airport, the Hadera power station near Haifa, and the Port of Ashdod.
In a televised statement aired Tuesday, Houthi military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree announced that the Yemeni Armed Forces had launched four drone and missile strikes in retaliation for recent Israeli air raids on Sana’a, which reportedly killed senior Houthi officials and dozens of civilians.
Saree described the attacks as part of Yemen’s “honorable duty toward the oppressed in Palestine,” vowing continued operations until “the aggression on Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.” He also claimed responsibility for targeting the container ship MSC ABY, allegedly linked to Israel, using a cruise missile and two drones.
While Israeli authorities have confirmed a missile impact near Ben Gurion Airport earlier this year, causing minor injuries, they have not officially acknowledged damage to the other sites mentioned in the Houthi statement. The Israeli military has launched an internal investigation into the failure of its air defense systems to intercept the projectile.
The escalation marks a significant expansion of the Houthi group’s operational reach, raising concerns over regional security and the vulnerability of Israeli infrastructure to long-range attacks from Yemen.
International observers warn that the widening scope of Houthi strikes—coupled with their declared intent to target Israeli-linked shipping—could further destabilize maritime and air traffic in the region.
