Israel Intercepts Ballistic Missile from Yemen for Second Time in One Day
Aden – The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it had intercepted two ballistic missiles launched from Yemen within a span of ten hours, marking a sharp escalation in cross-regional hostilities.
In two separate statements issued earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that its aerial defense systems successfully neutralized the incoming threats. The first missile was intercepted in the morning, triggering air raid sirens across central Israel, including the Tel Aviv area.
The second missile, launched around noon, activated sirens in Jerusalem, the occupied West Bank, and the Dead Sea region.
No injuries were reported in either incident, though the alerts prompted widespread concern and temporary disruptions in daily life.
The missiles were reportedly fired by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement, which has intensified its attacks on Israel in recent months. The group claimed responsibility for both launches, stating that its targets included strategic sites such as Ben Gurion Airport.
These attacks come amid heightened tensions following Israeli airstrikes in Yemen, including a recent operation that killed senior Houthi leaders in Sanaa. Since the resumption of Israel’s offensive in Gaza in March, the Houthis have launched over 70 ballistic missiles and dozens of drones toward Israeli territory.
Israeli officials have reiterated their commitment to defending the country against long-range threats and warned of further retaliatory measures if attacks persist.
