OCHA Receives Over $44 Million in Additional Funding to Support Yemen Humanitarian Response

SANA’A — The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has received more than $44 million in additional funding to bolster its humanitarian response plan in Yemen, where millions continue to face acute food insecurity, displacement, and limited access to essential services.
The new contributions come from a coalition of international donors, including the United States, the European Union, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates, and are earmarked for critical sectors such as food assistance, health care, water and sanitation, and protection services.
According to OCHA’s regional office, the funding will help scale up emergency operations targeting over 17 million vulnerable Yemenis, including internally displaced persons, women, and children affected by the ongoing conflict and economic collapse.
“This generous support is vital to sustaining life-saving aid in one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises,” said David Gressly, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen. “We urge continued solidarity and flexible funding to ensure we reach those most in need.”
Despite the new pledges, OCHA warns that the 2025 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan remains severely underfunded, with less than half of the required $2.7 billion secured so far. Humanitarian agencies continue to face access restrictions, fuel shortages, and logistical challenges in delivering aid across conflict-affected areas.
The additional $44 million is expected to be disbursed through UN agencies and implementing partners in the coming weeks, with priority given to high-risk governorates such as Hajjah, Taiz, Al Hudaydah, and Marib.
