Aen - Two crew members were injured and two others remain missing following a coordinated attack on the Liberian-flagged cargo ship Magic Seas off the coast of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, according to international maritime sources.

Security reports indicate that the vessel was targeted in a complex assault involving armed speedboats, aerial drones, and unmanned explosive-laden boats, resulting in a fire and water ingress into the ship’s hull. 

The crew managed to partially contain the fire before being forced to abandon the vessel due to escalating danger.

Authorities confirmed that two sailors sustained varying degrees of injuries, while two others are currently unaccounted for, as international naval forces in the region continue search and rescue operations.

This marks the second such attack within 48 hours in the Red Sea, signaling a sharp escalation after months of relative calm following an informal truce between the Houthi movement and the United States.

The Houthi group has claimed responsibility for the attack, describing it as part of its “response to Israeli aggression and Western support,” according to a statement by the group’s military spokesperson.

The Red Sea has witnessed a surge in maritime threats since late 2023, with dozens of commercial vessels targeted, prompting many global shipping companies to reroute away from traditional passages through the Suez Canal.
