U.S. strongly condemns the attacks carried out in Aden, south of Yemen
The U.S. strongly condemns the attacks carried out August 1 and 2 in Aden ,southern Yemen. Attacks such as these are unacceptable, US department of state said yesterday . The US statment added that Yemenis should work with UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths toward a political settlement that ends the conflict and brings peace, prosperity, and security to Yemen .
At least 51 people were killed on Thursday and Friday in two attacks that targeted security facilities in the government-controlled city of Aden.
One attack, claimed by Iran-allied Al Houthi militants targeted a military camp at a time of a graduation ceremony. The dead included Brig. Munir Al Yafi, a commander of the support forces.
Al Houthi television Al Masirah reported that the extremists had fired an explosive drone and a medium-range ballistic missile at the camp.
The second attack was by a car bombing that targeted a police station in Aden's district of Shaikh Othman. ISIS in Yemen annouced its resoponsibility.
