The Bahrain national team clinched the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup title with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Oman in the final held at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait. The match, witnessed by nearly 60,000 fans, showcased moments of brilliance, resilience, and heartbreak as Bahrain captured their second Gulf Cup crown, their first since 2019. 

Oman Strikes First with Early Goal

The match started on a high note for Oman, who took the lead in the 17th minute. A perfectly executed corner from Ali Al-Busaidi found Abdulrahman Al-Mushaifri, whose powerful header left Bahrain’s goalkeeper Ebrahim Lutfalla with no chance. Oman’s defense stood strong, maintaining the 1-0 advantage through the first half, despite Bahrain’s persistent attacks.

Marhoon Sparks Bahrain’s Comeback

The tide turned in the 79th minute when Mohamed Marhoon of Bahrain was fouled by Oman’s Jameel Al-Yahmadi inside the box. 

Marhoon calmly converted the resulting penalty, leveling the score. 

Just two minutes later, Marhoon played a decisive role again, delivering a cross that Oman captain Mohammed Al-Musalami inadvertently deflected into his own net.

Oman Falls Short Despite Resilience

Oman, who had defeated Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the semifinal, fought valiantly to find an equalizer. Their offensive efforts, led by Abdulrahman Al-Mushaifri and Jameel Al-Yahmadi, created chances, but Bahrain’s defense held firm. Despite 15 minutes of added time, Oman couldn’t break through, leaving Bahrain to celebrate a hard-earned victory.

Under coach Rasheed Jaber, Oman had been unbeaten until the final, showcasing a mix of tactical discipline and attacking flair. However, injuries to key players like Ahmed Al-Khamisi and Faiz Al-Rusheidi during the tournament posed significant challenges.
