The Aden Electricity Corporation has announced that the city is on the brink of a complete blackout due to a severe fuel shortage. The corporation warned that the electricity service will halt entirely within 24 hours as the remaining fuel reserves are nearly depleted.

The ongoing fuel crisis has already caused power outages lasting more than 17 hours a day, severely impacting hospitals, water stations, and other essential services. The corporation has appealed for urgent intervention to provide crude oil to keep the "Petro Masila" station operational, which is currently running at partial capacity.

Residents have expressed growing frustration over the prolonged power outages, with protests erupting in several districts of Aden. Security forces have been deployed to manage the demonstrations, which have seen roads blocked and tires set on fire.

The situation is exacerbated by the strained finances of the Southern Transitional Council, which governs Aden, and ongoing disruptions to fuel deliveries caused by attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The Aden Electricity Corporation has called on all concerned parties to take immediate action to address the crisis and prevent further suffering for the city's population.
