UAE, Bahrain sign MoU on archival and cultural cooperation

Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Affairs at the Royal Court, and Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library of the United Arab Emirates, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bahrain’s Royal Archives and King Hamad Digital Library and the UAE’s National Archives and Library.
The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation, exchange expertise in areas of mutual interest, and enhance efforts to preserve shared cultural and historical heritage. It also covers the exchange of important documents, participation in cultural activities, and advancing archiving and documentation practices.
Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi emphasised that the MoU strengthens Bahrain-UAE ties and supports historical record preservation, benefiting from the UAE’s expertise in archiving and technology. Abdullah Majid Al Ali highlighted the long-standing partnership and the MoU’s role in advancing joint efforts to safeguard national heritage and historical documentation.

The agreement includes provisions for training in documentary heritage preservation, consulting on historical document management, manuscript restoration, conservation of audiovisual records, and mutual participation in specialised seminars, workshops, and exhibitions on archiving and digital libraries.
