UAE Evacuates 188 Patients and Their Companions from Gaza Strip

The United Arab Emirates has announced the evacuation of 188 patients and their companions from the Gaza Strip to receive medical treatment in UAE hospitals.
According to the Emirates News Agency , this initiative comes under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as part of a broader effort to provide medical care for 1,000 injured Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in hospitals across the UAE.
The report stated that, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, the UAE organized a medical evacuation flight from Ramon Airport in Israel, passing through the Kerem Shalom crossing. The group included 101 patients accompanied by 87 family members, bringing the total number of evacuees to 2,634 patients and companions so far.
Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations and Deputy Chairman of the UAE’s International Humanitarian Aid Agency, said the initiative falls “within the UAE’s historic support for the Palestinian people and its solidarity with the residents of Gaza during the current crisis.” He emphasized that UAE humanitarian efforts aim to alleviate the catastrophic impact of the conflict, especially on children, women, and the elderly.
He added, “At this critical time, the UAE will spare no effort in extending a helping hand to our Palestinian brothers and sisters—whether by land, sea, or air. The UAE will continue to play a leading and proactive role alongside the United Nations and international partners to intensify efforts to ease the humanitarian suffering in Gaza, and to ensure the safe, unobstructed, and sustainable flow of aid through all possible channels.”
Al Shamsi also noted that the UAE has ranked as the top contributor of aid to Gaza since the beginning of the crisis in October 2023, accounting for over 40% of total assistance provided.
