IDF Intercepts a Yemeni Drone Over Israel
The Israeli army announced the successful interception of a drone launched from Yemen, following the sound of sirens in several Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip.
An official statement from the army indicated that after activating the alerts due to the infiltration of an enemy aircraft in the areas adjacent to Gaza, the air force managed to shoot down the unmanned aerial vehicle.
This incident comes just a day after Israel announced the interception of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group from Yemen, marking a new escalation between the two sides.
For his part, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree confirmed the execution of a "qualitative military operation" targeting the Lod Airport in the occupied Yafa region, using a hypersonic ballistic missile of the type "Palestine 2".
These developments reflect the increasing tension between Israel and the Houthis, especially after the Israeli army bombed Houthi positions in the capital Sana'a a few days ago.
In a firm reaction, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to impose a heavy price on the Houthis as a result of their repeated attacks.
Since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the Houthis have continued to launch ballistic missiles and drones towards Israel, most of which have been successfully intercepted, alongside conducting attacks in the Red Sea on commercial ships accused of being linked to Israel.
This new escalation reflects the tense situation in the region and increases the risks of military escalation between the conflicting parties.
