Yemeni Forces Dismantle Houthi Cell in Strategic Counterterrorism Operation

Aden – Southern Armed Forces in Yemen have successfully dismantled a Houthi cell operating in the southern region, in what officials described as a “precise and preemptive operation” aimed at neutralizing threats to local stability and national security.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Friday in the outskirts of Abyan governorate, led to the arrest of several Houthi operatives and the seizure of weapons, surveillance equipment, and encrypted communication devices. Military sources confirmed that the cell was planning sabotage operations targeting strategic infrastructure and military convoys.
Details of the Operation:
- Conducted by elite units affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC)
- Intelligence-led raid based on weeks of surveillance
- No casualties reported among Southern forces
The Southern Command stated that the dismantled cell was part of a broader network attempting to expand Houthi influence into southern territories, a move seen as a direct violation of the ceasefire agreements and a threat to the fragile peace process.
Official Reaction: Brigadier General Adel Al-Subaihi, spokesperson for the Southern Armed Forces, praised the troops’ professionalism and reaffirmed their commitment to “protecting the homeland from all forms of aggression and infiltration.”
The STC leadership also issued a statement calling on international partners to recognize the growing security challenges posed by Houthi expansionism and to support southern efforts to maintain territorial integrity.
This development comes amid rising tensions across Yemen, as Houthi forces continue to engage in cross-border attacks and internal destabilization efforts, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to revive peace talks.
