STC Welcomes UN Experts’ Report on Yemen, Calls for Stronger International Action
Aden -- The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has officially welcomed the latest report issued by the United Nations Panel of Experts on Yemen (S/2025/650), praising its thorough documentation of violations committed by the Houthi militia and its contribution to global awareness of the humanitarian and security crisis in Yemen.
In a statement released on November 10, 2025, the STC commended the UN panel’s efforts in exposing systematic indoctrination, child recruitment, torture, and obstruction of humanitarian aid by the Houthis. The Council emphasized that these practices not only violate international norms and values but also threaten the prospects for peace and stability in Yemen and the wider region.
“The findings of the report reflect the reality we face in the South and reaffirm the urgent need for coordinated international pressure to halt these abuses,” the STC said. It called on the UN Security Council and global partners to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, enforce sanctions, and support inclusive political solutions that reflect the aspirations of southern Yemenis.
The STC also reiterated its commitment to working with international bodies to ensure accountability and uphold human rights, while advocating for a just and sustainable resolution to the conflict that recognizes the distinct identity and political will of the South.
The UN Panel of Experts’ report, submitted in October 2025, provides a detailed overview of the ongoing violations and challenges facing Yemen, including the destabilizing role of external actors and the fragmentation of state institutions.
