Yemenia Airways Adds Ataq Airport to Flight Schedule Starting September 14
Aden — Yemenia Airways, the national carrier of Yemen, has officially announced the inclusion of Ataq International Airport in its operational flight schedule, with services set to begin on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
In a statement released by the airline’s media office, Yemenia confirmed that flights to and from Ataq will be available on a regular basis, enhancing connectivity to Shabwa Governorate and supporting both domestic mobility and humanitarian access. The move marks a significant step in expanding air travel options across southern Yemen, where infrastructure recovery efforts have been underway following years of conflict.
“The addition of Ataq Airport reflects our commitment to serving all regions of Yemen and facilitating safe, reliable travel for citizens and aid organizations,” the statement read. The airline did not immediately disclose the frequency or destinations of the new routes, but officials indicated that further details would be published on the Yemenia Airways flight schedule portal.
Ataq Airport, located in the heart of Shabwa, has undergone recent upgrades to meet international aviation standards, including runway rehabilitation and enhanced passenger facilities. Local authorities welcomed the announcement, citing its potential to boost economic activity and ease travel burdens for residents in the region.
This expansion follows Yemenia’s broader strategy to restore nationwide air connectivity, including recent resumptions of flights from Sana’a to Amman and planned routes to Cairo and Mumbai.
