Yemen : Aden Launches Yemen’s First AI-Powered CT Scanner to Advance Cardiac Diagnostics
ADEN — Aden has inaugurated the country’s first AI-powered CT scanner dedicated to enhancing cardiac diagnostic services.
The advanced imaging system, installed at Al-Jumhuriya Hospital, marks a major leap in medical technology and precision care for patients suffering from heart conditions.
The new scanner integrates artificial intelligence algorithms to improve image clarity, reduce scan times, and assist clinicians in detecting cardiovascular anomalies with greater accuracy.
Medical staff in Aden hailed the device as a transformative tool that will help reduce diagnostic delays and improve treatment outcomes for thousands of patients annually.
Dr. Sami Al-Maqtari, head of radiology at Al-Jumhuriya Hospital, stated that the AI-enhanced CT system enables real-time analysis of coronary arteries, heart chambers, and vascular structures.
“This technology allows us to detect subtle changes that traditional imaging might miss, especially in early-stage cardiac disease,” he said.
The project was made possible through a partnership between the Yemeni Ministry of Health, international donors, and regional medical technology providers.
The scanner is equipped with automated reconstruction software and predictive modeling tools, which help radiologists generate faster and more reliable reports.
Local officials emphasized that the initiative reflects Aden’s growing role as a hub for medical innovation in Yemen.
“We are proud to lead the way in adopting AI for public health,” said Dr. Waleed Abdulrahman, director of the hospital. “This is not just a machine—it’s a promise of better care for our people.”
The launch comes amid rising rates of cardiovascular disease in Yemen, exacerbated by years of conflict, limited access to care, and economic hardship. Health experts hope that the new scanner will serve as a model for future deployments in other governorates.
