United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement Urges De-Escalation and Cooperation for Peace in the Governorate of Hudaydah

Major General Michael Beary, the Head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA), arrived at Aden on 1 September for a series of meetings aimed at advancing peaceful efforts in Hudaydah Governorate. His visit included discussions with YEMEC Mine Action officials and a meeting with H.E. Ahmed Ben Mubarak, the Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, on 3 September. Major General Beary also held the first meeting with the Government Team of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) in Aden on 6 September, in three years since its last meeting, to emphasize the critical need for de-escalation of hostilities in Hudaydah.
UNMHA calls upon all parties to the Stockholm Agreement to collaborate towards achieving lasting peace in the governorate and set an example to be followed in all of Yemen. The Mission deplores the misuse of these moments for all kinds of militarization and provocative actions, urging instead for a sincere reflection on how best to support the Yemeni people in Hudaydah. UNMHA also emphasizes the importance of unhindered access for civilians, goods, and services across Hudaydah's frontlines, bridging the gap between Yemenis living in areas controlled by the government and those controlled by Ansar Allah. Enabling such access will play a crucial role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in Hudaydah and meeting their basic needs.
The United Nations Mission to support the Hudaydah Agreement remains committed to its mandate of facilitating the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement and promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in Yemen. Through genuine collaboration and a focus on the well-being of the Yemeni people, progress can be made towards a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
