Yemen: Four Civilians Killed in a Series of Landmine Explosions in Al-Hodeidah
Hodeidah – Four civilians lost their lives, and several others were injured in a series of landmine explosions across different areas of Al-Hodeidah governorate, according to rights reports and local testimonies.
The incidents occurred in the districts of Al-Tuhayat, Al-Durayhimi, and Hays, where landmines continue to pose a daily threat to residents, particularly in former conflict zones. According to local sources, the victims were farmers and shepherds engaged in their routine work when the mines detonated, leading to immediate fatalities or severe injuries.
Civilians in Al-Hodeidah face an ongoing threat due to the widespread presence of landmines left behind after years of war, sparking growing demands from residents and human rights organizations for an urgent demining effort to ensure their safety.
Human rights groups have voiced concern over the continued loss of lives due to these explosives, urging relevant parties and the international community to intensify demining efforts and implement effective measures to protect civilians.
The landmine crisis in Yemen remains one of the most pressing humanitarian issues, causing significant human and material losses, deepening the suffering of residents, and exacerbating daily life challenges.
