UNICEF announces support for health facilities in Yemen with medical supplies for over 60,000 cholera cases

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has announced extensive medical aid for health facilities in Yemen, providing medical supplies sufficient to treat more than 60,000 cholera cases since the beginning of this year.
In an official statement, the organization confirmed that 603 sets of medical supplies have been distributed to health facilities across the country to combat the outbreak of acute watery diarrhea, which poses an increasing health threat.
UNICEF added that it delivered 321 medical kits in the first quarter of the year, along with 282 additional kits in June. Each kit contains essential medications, intravenous solutions, oral rehydration salts, antibiotics, and other medical supplies to ensure effective treatment for affected individuals.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting 3,200 primary healthcare facilities in Yemen, all of which provide oral rehydration therapy as part of their core services, aiming to alleviate the healthcare crisis amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.
UNICEF has urged the international community to step up efforts to support Yemen’s healthcare sector, warning that the continued cholera outbreak could lead to a surge in infections and fatalities, requiring an urgent response to ensure adequate medical care for those in need.
