UAE Supports Yemen with Six Solar Power Stations to Enhance Sustainable Electricity

In a move aimed at improving Yemen's electricity sector, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has established six solar power stations in various areas, including Aden, Shabwa, Mokha, Hays, and Al-Khawkhah, to provide sustainable energy solutions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Aden solar power station is Yemen’s largest strategic clean energy project, with a production capacity of 249 megawatts, of which 120 megawatts have already been operationalized, while the remaining 120 megawatts are still under development. The station covers an area of 1.6 million square meters, featuring over 211,000 solar panels, 900 kilometers of electrical cables, and 12 substation transformers.
Meanwhile, the Shabwa station, still under construction, is projected to generate 53 megawatts, covering 600,000 square meters with 120,000 solar panels. This station is expected to power the city of Ataq, positively impacting healthcare, education, and economic services in the region.
In Mokha, a 20-megawatt solar power station has already been operationalized, while another 40-megawatt station is under development, aiming to support the newly planned industrial zone. This initiative is expected to boost infrastructure, attracting industrial and service investments.
These projects are part of the UAE’s commitment to supporting Yemen by providing clean and sustainable energy solutions. The solar stations will help reduce harmful emissions, improve living conditions, and contribute to the country's long-term development goals.
