MASAM Project Destroys Over 6,000 War Remnants in Yemen's Abyan

Aden – Saudi-funded MASAM demining project has successfully destroyed 6,078 explosive items in Abyan Governorate.
The destroyed materials included landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and unexploded ordnance collected from various parts of the region.
The destruction took place in the Al-Hamra area of Mudiyah District, conducted by MASAM’s engineering teams under strict safety protocols. Specialized equipment and trained personnel ensured the safe disposal of these remnants, preventing further risk to civilians.
Project Director Osama Al-Qasibi stated that the operation aligns with MASAM’s broader mission to safeguard Yemeni lives by systematically clearing explosives across the country.
Since its launch, the initiative has removed and neutralized tens of thousands of explosive devices, enabling displaced communities to return to their homes and rebuild.
Launched in 2018, MASAM is a humanitarian project funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, operating in coordination with Yemeni authorities.
It aims to clear Yemen of landmines and explosive remnants left behind from years of conflict, which have caused thousands of casualties and hindered economic recovery and access to vital services.
