Yemen Welcomes Opening of Indian Representative Office in Aden

Aden – The Yemeni government has officially welcomed the opening of a representative office for the Republic of India in the temporary capital, Aden, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yemeni officials praised India’s decision as “a gesture of friendship and strategic partnership,” emphasizing the importance of diplomatic engagement during Yemen’s ongoing recovery efforts. The new office is expected to facilitate consular services, enhance trade cooperation, and support humanitarian and development initiatives across southern Yemen.
Foreign Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak expressed gratitude for India’s continued support, stating, “India has always stood by Yemen in times of need. The opening of this office reflects a shared commitment to peace, stability, and mutual prosperity.”
Indian officials noted that the Aden office will serve as a liaison point for coordination with Yemeni authorities and international organizations operating in the region. It also aims to support the Indian diaspora and promote cultural exchange between the two countries.
The move comes amid growing international recognition of Aden as a center for diplomatic activity, following years of conflict that have disrupted operations in the capital Sana’a.
