Joint Security Forces Seize Drug-Laden Vehicle in Lahj’s Coastal District
Lahj — Joint security forces in Yemen’s southern province of Lahj have intercepted a vehicle carrying a large quantity of illicit pills in the coastal district of Al-Madharibah and Ras Al-Arah, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The operation was part of an ongoing security campaign aimed at curbing drug trafficking and organized crime along strategic coastal routes.
According to preliminary reports, the vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint following intelligence-led surveillance. Upon inspection, authorities discovered a concealed stash of narcotic pills hidden inside the vehicle’s compartments.
Security officials stated that the driver was taken into custody and an investigation is underway to determine the origin of the shipment and its intended destination. The seized substances have been transferred to specialized units for forensic analysis.
“This successful operation reflects the vigilance and coordination of our joint forces in protecting communities from the dangers of drug trafficking,” said a spokesperson for the campaign. “We remain committed to securing coastal areas and dismantling criminal networks.”
Al-Madharibah and Ras Al-Arah, located along Yemen’s southwestern shoreline, have seen increased security activity in recent months due to their proximity to maritime routes and smuggling corridors.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious activity, emphasizing that public support is vital to maintaining safety and stability in the region.
