UK Ambassador to Yemen: Houthi Attack on “MV Magic Seas” Threatens Environmental Disaster and Undermines Yemen’s Stability

Aden – British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, condemned the “horrific” Houthi attack on the commercial vessel MV Magic Seas in the Red Sea, warning of its devastating impact on international shipping and the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
“The attack not only endangered the lives of innocent crew members but also caused damage to another vessel in the area, increasing the risk of an environmental disaster in the Red Sea,” Sharif said in a statement.
She added that such assaults threaten the flow of essential goods and humanitarian aid relied upon by millions of Yemenis. “The failure of Houthi leaders to respect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea continues to inflict economic damage and undermine Yemen’s stability and the well-being of its people,” she stressed.
Ambassador Sharif urged the international community to adopt a unified stance to deter these repeated attacks and emphasized the importance of upholding international law and safeguarding vital shipping lanes.
