Tensions flared in western Yemen as violent clashes broke out between senior leaders and fighters affiliated with the Houthi militia in Raymah Governorate, exposing deepening internal divisions within the militia’s ranks.

Local sources reported that the confrontation took place in the district of Al-Jabin, where disputes over financial entitlements, regional control, and authority escalated into armed conflict. 

Eyewitnesses described scenes of heavy gunfire and mobilization of reinforcements, with residents forced to shelter indoors amid the turmoil.

The infighting allegedly stemmed from rivalry between two factions—one loyal to a prominent field commander recently reassigned from Sanaa, and another comprised of long-standing local militants. 

Disagreements over resource distribution and command influence in Raymah’s strategic mountainous areas appear to have reignited old hostilities.

Preliminary reports indicate that several combatants were killed or wounded, though exact numbers remain unclear due to the group’s media blackout and suppression of local coverage.

Residents and tribal mediators have called for de-escalation, warning that continued infighting could spark wider unrest and jeopardize civilian safety in already fragile communities.
