Yemen Records 64 Deaths and 295 Injuries in October Traffic Accidents
Sana’a — A newly released report on traffic incidents across Yemen has revealed a grim toll for the month of October, with 64 people killed and 295 others injured in road accidents nationwide.
The figures, compiled by traffic authorities and emergency services, highlight the persistent dangers facing motorists and pedestrians amid deteriorating road conditions, limited enforcement, and ongoing conflict-related disruptions.
According to officials, the majority of fatal accidents occurred on major highways linking urban centers, with causes ranging from speeding and reckless driving to poor vehicle maintenance and lack of signage. Several incidents also involved public transport and commercial vehicles.
Authorities have renewed calls for stricter traffic regulations, improved infrastructure, and public awareness campaigns to reduce the human cost of road travel in Yemen. The report underscores the urgent need for coordinated efforts to enhance road safety and emergency response capabilities.
