Aden --  The United Nations has launched a global humanitarian appeal for 2026, calling for $33 billion to assist vulnerable populations worldwide. Within this framework, the UN emphasized that Yemen remains one of the most critical emergencies, requiring over $2 billion in funding to sustain its humanitarian response plan next year.

The appeal comes amid warnings of escalating food insecurity, malnutrition, and deteriorating public services in Yemen, where years of conflict have devastated livelihoods and left millions dependent on aid. The UN noted that the requested funds would be directed toward emergency food assistance, healthcare, clean water, and protection services, aiming to reach millions of Yemenis across conflict-affected governorates.

“Yemen continues to face one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises,” UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher said during the launch of the Global Humanitarian Overview 2026. “Without sustained donor support, millions risk sliding deeper into hunger and disease.”
