Chinese envoy calls for tailored aid to Yemen
China's UN envoy on Friday said the world should provide tailored assistance to improving the living conditions of the Yemeni people.
At the UN Security Council meeting on Yemen, Zhang Jun, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, urged efforts be focused on easing Yemen's oil crisis and stabilizing the Yemeni Rial and prices in helping the livelihood of the Yemenis.
He also called for curbing cholera, supporting development and reconstruction projects and increasing employment for the war-torn country.
It is China's consistent position that development is effective pathway to peace and stability in countries in conflict, the Chinese envoy said.
China stands ready to do more practical work for the benefit of the Yemeni people, participate in economic reconstruction of Yemen, boost the Yemeni people's confidence in the future and contribute constructively to the early achievement of lasting peace and stability in Yemen, he pledged.
