UNFPA Report Highlights Grim Reality for Women and Girls in Yemen
Aden – A new report released by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has painted a bleak picture of the situation facing women and girls in Yemen, who continue to bear the brunt of one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
According to the report, the ongoing armed conflict, the collapse of basic services, and declining international funding have deepened the vulnerability of women, significantly increasing the risks of gender-based violence and child marriage. The absence of effective protection systems has left many without recourse to justice or safety.
The report underscores that Yemeni women are grappling with a compounded reality of poverty, displacement, and violence.
Beyond the economic and structural devastation caused by years of war, the crisis has eroded fundamental rights to security, health, and education.
This suffering is particularly acute in rural and remote areas, where health and social services are almost entirely absent, magnifying the dangers faced by women and girls and exposing them to life-threatening conditions.
