Russia Appoints Kodrov as New Ambassador to Yemen
Aden – The Russian Federation has officially appointed Yevgeny Aleksandrovich Kodrov as its new ambassador to the Republic of Yemen, reaffirming Moscow’s commitment to maintaining diplomatic engagement with the war-torn country.
Kodrov, a seasoned diplomat with a long-standing career in Middle Eastern affairs, will assume his post during a critical phase in Yemen’s conflict, where international efforts to broker peace remain ongoing.
His appointment was announced by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and welcomed by Yemeni officials, who expressed hope that Russia’s involvement could help facilitate dialogue among the country’s rival factions.
Due to security concerns, Ambassador Kodrov is expected to operate from the Russian embassy office in Muscat, Oman, while maintaining active communication with Yemeni authorities and civil society representatives.
Russia has maintained relations with both the internationally recognized government and the Houthi movement, positioning itself as a potential mediator in future negotiations. Analysts view Kodrov’s appointment as part of a broader strategy to expand Russia’s influence in the Arabian Peninsula and support regional stability.
