Hadramout — The Southern Armed Forces have begun mobilizing units across Hadramout governorate as part of a new security plan aimed at securing the valley and desert regions, military officials confirmed on Tuesday. 

The move comes amid mounting tensions, with the Hadramout Tribal Alliance reportedly besieging key oil facilities in the governorate.

According to field sources, convoys of armored vehicles and troops were deployed toward strategic positions in the valley and desert zones, areas considered vital for both energy infrastructure and regional stability. 

Commanders stated that the operation seeks to prevent further escalation, protect oil installations, and ensure safe passage for civilians.

The Hadramout Tribal Alliance has intensified its presence around oil fields in recent weeks, demanding greater local control over resources and accusing authorities of marginalizing tribal communities. The siege has raised fears of disruption to Yemen’s fragile economy, which relies heavily on oil exports from Hadramout.

Local parties have urged restraint, calling for dialogue to avoid a slide into open conflict. Civil society groups stressed that militarization of the valley and desert could endanger communities, urging both sides to prioritize negotiations over force.
