NEW YORK — The United Nations Security Council will convene its annual session on Wednesday, December 17, to hear briefings from the chairs of its subsidiary bodies whose two-year membership terms conclude at the end of 2025, according to the Council’s provisional program of work.

Five outgoing chairs are scheduled to deliver briefings, including South Korea, which currently heads the Yemen Sanctions Committee (Committee 2140). 

South Korea’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Jihun Cha, will present a report on the committee’s activities during the past two years. The session is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. New York time (11:30 p.m. Yemen time).

Cha’s briefing is expected to highlight the committee’s efforts in implementing the sanctions regime established under Security Council Resolution 2140 of 2014, as well as its role in monitoring compliance during his tenure.
