US, Britain, Spain vote for UN resolution on Yemen
The US permanent representative to the United Nations Samantha Power said America calls for continuation of a dialog based on Gulf Initiative and condemns the acts committed by the Houthis aiming at undermining stability in Yemen.
“The settlement of the conflict in Yemen should be peaceful, and we should exert more efforts in order to solve the Yemeni crisis,” Power added.
In the same context, the British representative to the United Nations said the Huthis’ behavior shows they hold no respect for Security Council resolutions.
Also, the Spanish representative said the humanitarian crisis in Yemen is alarming.
On the other side, the Russian representative said Russia abstained from voting as the Security Council did not adopt its view aiming at imposing arms block on all the warring parties in Yemen.
