Qatar is ‘a very good’ ally and Netanyahu will not strike it again, says Trump
US President Donald Trump called Qatar “a very good ally” and said that Israel will not hit the Gulf nation again after an Israeli attack on Doha last week drew widespread criticism.
However, in an incomplete sentence Trump did hint that while Israel may not be going after Qatar, it may continue its assault on Gaza or Hamas.
“He won’t be hitting Qatar, but he will be going after…,” Trump said before jumping into an explanation about Hamas using people as human shields.
Citing a newspaper article he read an hour prior to making the statement to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump claimed that Hamas said they were going to use the remaining 20 hostages in Gaza as “human shields.”
“They’re going to bring them up from the dark tunnels. And they’re going to put them in the line of fire,” the US president said.
Trump added he thought it was a “very terrible” thing to do.
