Houthi attacks cut Maersk's Q2 capacity by 15%-20%

A.P. Moller-Maersk revealed on Monday that it expects Yemen's Houthi disruptions to container shipping traffic in the Red Sea to have resulted in a 15% to 20% decrease in the company's capacity in the second quarter of 2024.
"The knock-on effects of the situation have included bottlenecks and vessel bunching, as well as delays and equipment and capacity shortages. We estimate an industry-wide capacity loss of 15-20% on the Far East to North Europe and Mediterranean market during Q2," the Danish cargo giant added.
