Shabwa Governor Orders Swift Legal Action Over Unlawful Tribal Execution That Shocked Yemen
Shabwa – The Governor of Shabwa, Awad Mohammed bin Al-Wazir, has directed the Director General of Police in the governorate to urgently take legal measures in response to the unlawful execution of a young man that has sparked outrage across Yemen.
Tribal gunmen carried out the extrajudicial killing of Amin Nasser Bahaj in Habban district, southeastern Shabwa, only hours after he committed a murder. In a move outside the framework of law, Bahaj’s family handed him over to the relatives of the victim, who then executed him in a customary manner.
The incident, widely condemned by rights groups and community leaders, has raised alarm over the persistence of tribal justice practices that bypass the rule of law. Activists circulated a video on social media showing the execution, intensifying public anger and calls for accountability.
