Yemen Launches Emergency Cholera Response Project in Partnership with KSrelief

Sana’a – Yemeni health authorities, in collaboration with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), have officially launched an emergency response project to combat the resurgence of cholera across several governorates.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over the spread of the disease in vulnerable communities already grappling with limited access to clean water and basic healthcare.
The project aims to deliver rapid interventions including the deployment of mobile medical teams, distribution of oral rehydration salts, and the establishment of temporary treatment centers in high-risk areas. It also includes public awareness campaigns to promote hygiene practices and early detection.
“This emergency response is vital to saving lives and preventing further outbreaks,” said a representative from the Ministry of Public Health and Population. “We are working closely with KSrelief and other partners to ensure swift coordination and delivery of essential supplies.”
The cholera outbreak has been exacerbated by deteriorating infrastructure, displacement, and the ongoing conflict, which continues to hinder access to safe water and sanitation. According to recent health reports, thousands of suspected cases have been recorded in recent weeks, with children and the elderly most at risk.
KSrelief emphasized its commitment to supporting Yemen’s health sector and called for increased international support to sustain operations in the coming months. The initiative is part of a broader humanitarian effort to strengthen Yemen’s health system and mitigate the impact of preventable diseases.
