Yemen Presidential Leadership Council’s Trip to New York Cost $11 Million, Sources

Local sources told Yemen Online that the visit of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council chairman and his accompanying delegation to the United States, to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, cost approximately $11 million.
According to the sources, the Yemeni delegation included 41 members, among them officials and aides, sparking widespread questions about the scale of spending amid the dire living conditions faced by ordinary Yemenis.
The report comes at a time when Yemen is enduring one of the world’s worst humanitarian and economic crises, with millions suffering from poverty and a lack of basic services. Meanwhile, the internationally recognized government faces mounting criticism for its failure to deliver effective solutions, along with persistent accusations of corruption, nepotism, and regional favoritism.
If accurate, these revelations highlight a widening gap between the conduct of the political leadership and the urgent needs of the population fueling public and media debate over government spending priorities in a country mired in conflict and humanitarian disaster.
